We built Vocalo to solve one problem: a lecture recording is hours of audio you still have to sit through, and a raw transcript is thousands of words you still have to read. Neither is the same as understanding the material. So Vocalo turns a recording into a study kit — transcript, summary, notes, flashcards and a quiz.

The study kit was made for exams. But it turns out a recording is a recording — and the same engine that turns a lecture into revision notes does the same thing for a recorded meeting, a research interview, or a podcast episode you're pulling notes from.
We kept seeing people use Vocalo for things we didn't design it for:
- A founder dropping in a recorded client call and getting the summary and action items without rewatching an hour of Zoom.
- A researcher running interview recordings through it and searching the transcript instead of scrubbing audio.
- A creator turning a long recording into notes, key points and quotes for a script or newsletter.
We didn't need to change the product to serve them. We just needed to admit out loud that it already did — and then ship the two things that were still missing.
New: record straight from your browser
Until now, Vocalo needed a file or a link. That assumed the recording already existed.
Now it doesn't. Hit record in your browser, capture the audio, and it goes straight into transcription and the full study kit. No app to install, no separate recorder, no download-then-upload dance. A quick voice memo, an in-person meeting, a lecture you're sitting in — record it where you are and have it processed by the time you're done.
This is the feature that closes the loop. Vocalo now handles both ends: the recording you already have and the one you're about to make.
New: chat with your transcript
A transcript answers "what was said." It doesn't answer "wait, what did they decide about the deadline?"
Now you can just ask. Chat with your transcript and get answers pulled straight from the recording — no scrolling, no Ctrl-F guessing at the right keyword. Ask what the main points were, what you were told to do, or what a term meant in context, and get it back in plain language.
For students that's "quiz me on this" and "explain that part again." For everyone else it's "what were the action items" and "what did we agree on" — same feature, and it works on whatever you put in.
